The Dean Writes:
Dear Parishioners and Friends all around the world,
As we approach the season of Christmas, the words of the hymn “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” remind us of the
joyous proclamation that accompanies the birth of Christ: “Glory to the new-born King!” This season is a time of
celebration, reflection, and renewal, as we gather to celebrate Jesus’ arrival into the world. As we prepare for
Christmas, we are called to embrace the joy and hope that His birth brings to our lives. This joy transcends our
circumstances, reminding us that no matter the challenges we face, we can find comfort in the love and grace of our
Saviour.
In the early days of December, the Advent season invites us to reflect on the significance of this hope. “Joyful, all ye nations rise; join the triumph of the skies.” This same hymn encourages us to celebrate together, uniting in the anticipation of Christ’s coming. It reminds us that we are part of a larger community, one that shares in the joy of His birth and the hope of His return. This sense of belonging can be a source of strength and encouragement, particularly during times of uncertainty.
As we gather in our churches during the Season of Advent and the Season of Christmas, let it be a special place where we can experience the calm and peace that only Christ can provide. “Hark! The herald angels sing, glory to the new-born King!” Let these words be a reminder that we are called to be heralds of His message. In our worship, we have the opportunity to share the good news of His love with others, inviting them to join us in celebrating His grace and mercy.
It is my prayer that you will find moments of stillness in the hustle and bustle of both these seasons. May you draw near to the Prince of Peace, allowing His presence to fill your heart with joy and hope. If you live in parts of the world where there are opportunities for you to attend church during Advent and Christmas, I encourage you to engage fully in this special time. As you worship our Heavenly King, may you experience the true calm and peace that comes from knowing Him. Let His grace and forgiveness give you hope. Let His mercy bring you joy and peace.
Yours very sincerely,
